- Is it necessary to have a tourist visa to enter Bolivia?
It depends on the nationality of the passenger. Passengers from Chile, South America and Western Europe do not need a tourist visa. Passengers from the United States, Central America, Asia and Africa need a tourist visa, which costs USD 100 or USD 160 according to nationality. We can inform you that there are 3 groups: GROUP I do not need a visa; GROUP II needs a visa, it is possible to do it directly at the border; and GROUP III needs a visa, you must make the consultation before arriving at the border.

- Is it necessary to be vaccinated against yellow fever to make the tour?
The vaccine against yellow fever is not required for the tour to the Salar de Uyuni. It is only required if you will later visit the Bolivian jungle.
- With what infrastructure does each program count?
The program with hotels has a similar level of structure for all establishments. The rooms are private, single, double or triple, according to availability, all have heating and private bathroom with hot water and Wifi service. The hostels, on the other hand, have private, double or matrimonial rooms, according to availability, without heating, with private bathroom and shower with hot water. There is no internet access.
- What kind of plugs are there in the accommodations?
The accommodations have type C plugs, which is compatible with types E and F. In any case, we recommend you take an adapter to avoid any inconvenience during your trip.
- In which vehicle is the tour made?
The tour takes place in a minibus in Chile and in Bolivia 4×4 WD vehicles are used. Toyota Land Cruiser.
- How much baggage can I take?
Each passenger can carry a maximum of 1 bag or suitcase of 18kg which will go above 4×4.
- How is the weather along the tour?
In summer (december to march), the temperature is approximately minimum 4 °C up to 23 °C maximum. In the winter (june to september), the temperature is about a minimum of -20 °C and maximum of 16 °C.
- How much money should I take to the tour?
We recommend carrying between 300 to 400 bolivianos per person (national parks, border tax, museums, hygienic baths, snacks, souvenir purchases, etc.).
- Where can I change money to Bolivians?
On Toconao Street, in San Pedro de Atacama (intersection with Caracoles), you can find some exchange houses where you can get Bolivians to take to the tour.
- How likely is it to be uneasy due to altitude during the ride?
Much of the tour is made more than 4.000 meters above sea level, so it is quite common for people to experience some discomfort, especially on the first day of the tour. For this reason, it is advisable to make acclimatization with local walks in San Pedro Atacama that have the same height of Bolivia.
- What is the included food?
The food on the tour is varied and includes tea, coffee, bread, biscuits and fruit for breakfast. For lunch and dinner we will have meats, pasta, rice, soup and vegetables. If you need a vegetarian or vegan menu, you must inform when booking, although it is recommended to bring your special menu.
- What happens with the tour in case of rain?
In case of rain, the order of places to visit, possibility to see the sunrise and accommodations will be subject to change, as some roads may close. In addition, the Salar de Uyuni is unviable due to water and Incahuasi Island (located in the middle of the desert) remains closed. For this reason, Incahuasi Island is not visited and it is only possible to go to a distance that does not give risk to the passengers.
- When is it possible to see the mirror effect in the Salar de Uyuni?
The mirror effect occurs when there is water on the salt. This occurs only in periods of rain (January and February) and after them (March).
- Is it possible to take the tour with a guide in another language?
Yes. The guide service in English for the entire tour, has an additional price of USD 75 per day, and in French or German of USD 95 per day, and can be added as an optional service together with the reservation only in private services.
